Air Powered Engine

This was the first engine I ever machined.  I learned the basics about engines while using my lathe and mill skills to create a functional engine out of mainly brass.  It was also the first time I assembled moving components that I had created.  The assembly went fairly smooth, though it proved difficult to adhere the base and lid to the cylinder without the crankshaft and piston getting stuck in place as well.  This required additional help; while one person soldered the base and lid, the other actively rotated the flywheel to keep the components in motion.

All of the parts were machined on the manual mill and lathe by following blueprints.  This was a very satisfying piece to machine, and it still runs smoothly after seven years.
